'Burundi, Heart of Africa, country of sacred drums!!!' (Lunch Presentation Meeting Series #081)

Dancile Nizeyimana, an international student from Burundi, made a presentation called 'Burundi, Heart of Africa, country of sacred drums!!!' Once again, we are thrilled to know that this is another new experience, in that, Dancille is the very first student from Burundi at Kagawa University. Twelve students came to listen to her very interesting talk.  (Lrong)

Udon-making and autumn leaves viewing at Ayakawa town

For many consecutive years, I have been asked by Ayakawa International Association to bring some international students for this interesting event.

In this event, 15 students from various nationalities, get to try their hand in making udon noodles with their own hands, and they get to taste the udon thereafter.

Students took the local train to Sue Station whereby they were picked up by the Ayakawa folks.

The students were led to Takayama Airport Park which is up on a hill top. This park houses some flying machines, and while it was a bit too early for the autumn leaves to show their full color, this park offers also some good views of the Sanuki Plain, and of Takamatsu Airport.

We then headed to a community center whereby the locals had already set up the place for udon cooking.

The local folks taught the international students on how to flatten out the flour, which had been left to ferment for a few hours.

This was followed by some supervision on the cutting, of which the end product is the udon that we are familiar with.

The udon tasted very good, as in previous years.

After we filled our stomachs, the students made some impromptu singing and dancing performances on stage.

We had a good time mingling with the folks of Ayakawa town, and I look forward to bringing more international students to this event again next year. (Lrong)
