Inner Mongolia.. my hometown (Lunch Presentation Meeting Series #004)

A freshman at the Faculty of Economics made a presentation on his hometown, Inner Mongolia.
His presentation covered a broad spectrum of very interesting topics such as Ghengis Khan, Mongolian wrestling, and the similarities and differences between Inner Mongolia and Mongolia.

For the first time, a student from the same faculty, moderated the presentation.

There were 33 participants in the audience.
Questions from the floor included...  why the ethnic minority groups are treated favorably... the physical travel distances between Inner Mongolia and Mongolia and whether there is a need for a passport to travel between the two regions... and about the disappearing nomadic life in the grasslands...

2011年春季歓迎会 Welcome Party for Spring 2011

４月９日（土）、春季新入留学生の歓迎会は開催されました。
今回の新入留学生人数は27名でした。
いつものように、先輩の留学生たち（クフサメンバー）をはじめ、アイセス部員や教職員、地域住民（仏生山国際交流会、綾川国際交流会）の皆さんは大勢来て下さいました。
A welcome party for new international students was held on 9th April (Sat).
The number of new international students coming into Kagawa University in April 2011 was 27. As in previous years, senior international students (KUFSA members), ICES members, university staff, and members of the community (Bushozan International Association, Ayakawa International Association) joined in the party to welcome the new students.

The World Heritage Sites of Japan (Lunch Presentation Meeting Series #003)

The third speaker of the Lunch Presentation Meeting was a sophomore at the Faculty of Agriculture.

His English-Japanese presentation started off with a definition of 'World Heritage Sites'. He followed up with some examples of world heritage sites in China and Korea and he asked the audience about the number of world heritage sites Japan has.

Ryo then went on to focus on two sites which are closely Kagawa.

They are Himeji Castle in Hyogo Prefecture, and Itsukushima Shrine in Miyajima Island, Hiroshima. 

Thirty one students (12 international and 19 Japanese) participated in today's talk.  

Two announcements were made: (1) students shall moderate the next session onwards and (2) we shall be presenting a Certificate of Appreciation to all speakers.

Honduras... Know Honduras... (Lunch Presentation Meeting Series #002)

ランチプレゼンテーション会の第2回は2011年４月11日（月）、12：10から12：45まで開催されました。発表者はホンジュラス出身の留学生でした。

発表内容は、マヤ遺跡の中、もっとも研究されているRuins of Copanと観光地のRoatan Bay Islandsでした。古代マヤ社会では、サッカーのようなゲームが盛んで、負けた側の司令塔は神様のイケニエにさせられる伝説は印象的でした。
第1回と比べると、今回は質問が多くて、少しずついい形になってきていると気がします。

参加者は31名でした。部屋は小さくて椅子は足りませんでした。Career Cafeから椅子を借りて来ました。次回、もっと大きな部屋を使用すると考えています。

Let's Talk Peru (Lunch Presentation Meeting Series #001)

2011年３月23日（水）、ランチプレゼンテーション会の第1回として、ペルー出身の学生は「Let's Talk Peru」というテーマで話をしてくれた。参加学生は10名。

Coast（海岸）、Highland（高原）、Jungle（ジャングル）を三つのパートでペルーの魅力を紹介してくれた。学生たちは、やはりマチュ・ピチュ遺跡が一番興味深く聞いていた。

Purpose: The main aim of this event is to provide a platform for international and local students to engage one another without having to wait for a ‘big’ event. This event is also designed to give an opportunity for students to practice or enhance their presentation skills outside of the classroom.
